Alert for landslides in Switzerland after heavy rains
While the risk of landslides continues in the north of Ticino, affected by heavy rains, in this region more than 280 millimeters per square meter have fallen in the last 72 hours.
A road has been closed to traffic due to a landslide in the village of Malvaglia.
The Biasca, Locarno and Valmaggia regions were also affected by strong storms. About 50 firefighters working in the region continue to work against the risk of landslides.
Although the cantons of Grisons and Glarus also experience heavy rains, the danger of landslides increases. Thunderstorms and showers are expected in the region until tomorrow night.
Some vehicles were damaged and several people were injured due to the hailstorm that hit Locarno on August 25.
The sweltering heat that swept through Switzerland last week gave way to cool, rainy weather.
Western Switzerland and Geneva also experienced heavy rain over the weekend. (AA)
