Israeli spy alert in Lebanon
Two people allegedly spying for Israel in Lebanon were caught trying to leave the country from Beirut’s international airport.
According to local media reports, Lebanon’s Public Security chief, Major General Ilyas Bayssari, said in a statement on the matter that two individuals were determined to be “carrying out certain operations inside Lebanon on behalf of Israel.”
Bayssari noted that the people accused of espionage were caught while trying to escape from Beirut’s international airport. The head of Public Security, Bayssari, affirmed that the detainees, whose names have not been revealed, were referred to the military judicial authorities after their interrogation and that the progress will be communicated later.
Bayssari stated that the spies in question “represented a threat to Lebanon” and did not elaborate further. (AA)
