Belarusian leader Lukashenko breaks Prigojin’s silence: I don’t have to guarantee his safety
According to the written statement of the Presidency of Belarus, Lukashenko made a statement to journalists at the Belarusian State University, which he visited to conduct research in the capital Minsk.
Lukashenko made assessments of Wagner’s leader, Prigojin, putting an end to the rebellion on his own, and answered questions.
Lukashenko shared information about the phone call he had with Prigojin, the founder of the Russian mercenary group Wagner, who died in a plane crash in Tver, Russia, during the Russian uprising in June.
To a question, Lukashenko stated that he was not responsible for Prigojin’s safety, saying: “To answer this question directly: I do not have to guarantee Prigojin’s safety. This is the first. Second, the conversation has never gone this far.” saying.
Also, in his conversation with Prigokhin, Lukashenko stated that he offered to take him to Belarus and provide full security there, adding that Prigokhin did not demand security guarantees from him.
Lukashenko expressed that he cannot be responsible for Prigojin’s security outside of Belarus, Africa or anywhere else, saying: “How could I provide him with this security? So these questions are not for me. Also, that speech was never made to ensure safety in foreign lands.” he used his statements.
“I RECEIVED SERIOUS INFORMATION ABOUT THE MURDER”
Lukashenko claimed that during his visit to the United Arab Emirates a few months ago he received “serious” information about an assassination attempt on Prigojin, and he immediately reported it to the Russian side and, more recently, this information was given to Prigojin by the president. Russian Vladimir Putin.
Lukashenko also assessed the decision of Lithuania, Latvia and Poland to close the borders with Belarus: “We are not going to Lithuania or Latvia and we are not working with them either. Who will they hurt? They will only make the situation worse for them and their people.” he said. (AA)
