The Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection of Greece, Vasilis Kikilias, recalled that there is a total fight against the fires that have been taking place for days in different parts of the country and drew attention to the fact that some fires got out of control. due to strong winds.

Kikilias pointed out that at 08:00 in the morning nine arson attempts were detected in the forest area of ​​Mount Parnita, about 50 kilometers north of the capital Athens, and in the Avlona region, about 60 kilometers north of Athens.

Kikilias claimed that the suspects were detained, saying: “They will not be able to escape. We will find you and you will answer to justice.” he said.

20 PEOPLE LOSE LIVES

On August 22, the bodies of 18 people, including two children, belonging to irregular migrants trying to cross from Maritsa to Greece were found in the Dadia forest area in the Meriç region.
