The country talks about it: the Minister’s guests bathe in the police car
The guests of the Belgian Minister of Justice, Vincent van Quickenborne, went to the bathroom in the police van parked next to his house, the prosecution opened an investigation for “insults to the security forces”.
According to local media, on August 14, the Minister of Justice, van Quickenborne, organized a birthday party at his home in Kortrijk, commemorating his 50th birthday. The party was attended by many high-level guests, including Prime Minister Alexander de Croo.
Towards the end of the night, three people, who appeared to have drunk too much alcohol, left the minister’s house and urinated in the police van guarding his house. The police, who became aware of the incident the next day, reviewed the camera recordings.
THE POLICE REACTS TO THE MINISTER
When it became clear that the perpetrators were guests of the minister, a report for insults to the police was drawn up and an investigation was launched by the federal prosecutor’s office. Prosecutor Tom Janssens said that by examining the footage they were trying to identify those involved in the incident.
On the other hand, in a cabinet statement by Minister van Quickenborne it was stated that he did not witness the event and cannot be held responsible for the actions of his guests in public.
The NSPV police union demanded the resignation of van Quickenborne.
