Fidan’s PKK statement, which met with Barzani

Speaking at the joint press conference with KRG Prime Minister Mesrur ​​Barzani in Erbil today, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made the following statements in his speech:

“During my visit to Baghdad, there were very intense topics on the agenda. We had the opportunity to discuss issues such as economic issues, the highway development project, the fight against terrorism, the water issue and the reconstruction of Iraq, infrastructure projects, superstructure projects with the relevant authorities, in particular with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister and the President.

Today in Erbil we met in the morning with KRG Chairman Nechirvan Barzani. We had meetings. Today we had bilateral and inter-delegation meetings with the Prime Minister. As you said, during our meetings we had the opportunity to discuss and review many issues, especially the fight against terrorism, energy, economy and trade.

Dear members of the press, we have a lot of work to do to get rid of the scourge of terrorism. And as you know, in Türkiye we have largely solved this issue. Currently, the PKK terrorism is hiding on Iraqi soil. I hope that together we will eliminate this virus from Iraq. We find that both the Baghdad administration and the Erbil administration are quite determined to expel PKK terror from Iraqi lands. We are also happy about that. We will give all the support we can to these authorities.”

KRG Prime Minister Barzani also said: “I hope our cooperation (with Turkey) will continue to fight against all kinds of (PKK) terrorism in the region.” (AGENCIES)
