North Korea’s spy missile test fails again

North Korea has announced that its second attempt to put a spy satellite into orbit has failed and another attempt will be made in October.

North Korea’s Space Agency said the Chollima-1 carrier rocket and the Malligyong-1 satellite were launched to put it into orbit, but the test failed because the emergency detonation system failed in the third phase of the flight.

North Korea’s National Aeronautical and Space Development Administration (NADA) said a new test is planned for October after an alleged failed attempt to put a spy satellite into orbit.

The South Korean military claimed that the attempted missile launch in question violated United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions. Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno described the move as “a threat to peace and stability.”

North Korea attempted to launch a military spy satellite on May 31, but it failed due to a failure in the carrier rocket system. The Pyongyang administration called this trial the “most serious mistake” of the first half of the year. Despite international condemnation, North Korea announced that the satellite would be launched “properly” again before long. (AA)
