The revenge of Prigojin’s death? Putin said: “I will never forgive betrayal”
The news that Yevgeniy Prigojin, the leader of the Wagner mercenary group, which launched an uprising against President Vladimir Putin in Russia two months ago, died yesterday after his plane crashed, shocked the world.
The Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) reported that Prigojin, the founder of Wagner, died in the plane that crashed yesterday in Tver. In the private plane, where 10 people died, Prigojin was also present, as well as his deputy and one of the founders of Wagner, Dmitriy Utkin, and the most prominent names of the group Sergey Propustin, Yevgeniy Makaryan, Aleksandr Totmin, Valeriy Cekalov and Nikolay Matuseyev .
Known as “Putin’s boss”, Prigojin was on the world agenda with the uprising that began against Moscow at the end of June.
Prigojin’s fighters, who accused Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu and Russian Chief of Staff Valeriy Gerasimov of “incompetence”, seized some Russian headquarters and advanced on Moscow, and the rebellion was quickly ended with Belarus mediation.
Putin SAID ‘WE WILL PUNISH THE TRAILER’
In a televised statement immediately after the June uprising, Russian leader Putin said: “Our response will be tough. We will punish the traitors,” he stated.
It was very popular at the time for Putin to say “I will never forgive treason” on a TV show where he had previously been a guest.
WHO IS YEVGENIY PRIGOJIN?
Prigojin, 62, who started his business life modestly selling sandwiches, later became rich thanks to the deals with the Kremlin of the catering company he founded and was known for many years as “Putin’s cook”.
In 1980 Saint Prigojin, who stole her earrings by hitting a woman in the middle of the street with her friends in Saint Petersburg, spent 10 years in prison.
Prigojin, who turned Wagner into the world’s largest mercenary force with the support of Putin, with whom he was close for a while, was also a name that sparked backlash with human rights violations in several wars.
THE LEADER OF BELARUS SAYS I CONSUMED PUTIN
After the failed June coup attempt, the fate of the Wagner leader was debated and it was alleged that Putin would retaliate sooner or later.
Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, who played a mediating role in the suppression of the uprising, said Putin, with whom he had spoken by phone during the crisis, wanted Pirgojin killed and persuaded the Russian leader not to make a hasty decision.
