German citizenship for Turks in Germany in 3 years: these are the conditions
Germany is amending the Citizenship Law for the 14 percent of people living in their country who do not have a German passport. The bill was approved by the government and paved the way towards “dual citizenship and easy citizenship”.
The new bill will reach parliament at the end of the year. If approved, with this law, all Turks in Germany who have not yet received German citizenship will be able to obtain German citizenship without giving up their Turkish citizenship.
TO ATTRACT THE BRAIN DRAIN…
Home Secretary Nancy Feasar welcomed the approval of the bill by the tripartite coalition. “The Modern Citizenship M Act is an important reform for our government,” Feaser said in a statement. We are fighting to bring important minds from all over the world to our country. We need trained personnel in many fields. We want to win important and valuable minds that contribute to the future and diversity of our country. For this, a modern citizenship law is important.” Feaser continued:
DEFENDING WESTERN VALUES
“With the skilled immigration law, this will be an important step. We believe that people who have been in our country for a long time but do not want to break with their home country will help shape our country in a democratic way. We allow multiple citizenships. Anyone who speaks German well and is successful in business can reduce the naturalization process to three years. We will also facilitate the naturalization of guest workers in exchange for the years they have contributed to our country. Those who do not share our values will not be Germans”.
HERE ARE THE CONDITIONS OF THE NEW CITIZENSHIP
The important articles of the government bill, which is expected to be promulgated by the end of the year, are as follows;
1) DUAL CITIZENSHIP: People will be able to become German citizens without giving up their original citizenship. In the past this was only possible in exceptional circumstances. For this reason, most Turks were unable to obtain German citizenship. Many Turks who secretly took Turkish citizenship lost their German citizenship. They will be able to get Turkish citizenship again once the law is passed.
2) OBLIGATION TO CHOOSE UP: With the change that came into effect at the beginning of 2020, limited and temporary dual citizenship was granted to children born in Germany to Turkish parents. Turkish children had to opt for a German or Turkish passport and be no more than 23 years old. This shit is falling apart.
3) FIVE YEARS INSTEAD OF EIGHT: The requirement to live in Germany for eight years for naturalization was relaxed and reduced to five years. Thus was born the right to German citizenship for almost all Turks in Germany. Newcomers will also be able to obtain German citizenship within three years if they are successful in their work and speak German.
4) THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE EQUALITY OF WOMEN AND MEN DO NOT: In addition to language and duration, naturalization will consider a commitment to a free democratic order. Those who do not believe in gender equality and polygamy will not be granted citizenship. There will be no citizens who act against human dignity. Those who hold racist or anti-Semitic views or commit inhuman acts cannot become citizens.
5) THE INFORMATION WILL BE RECEIVED IN A DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT: Security vetting to be conducted prior to naturalization will be expedited and conducted in the digital environment. The relevant authorities will be determined later.
6) EARN YOUR OWN LIVING: Another prerequisite is that the naturalized person must support himself and his family members. Those who receive social assistance and live on state aid will not be citizens.
7) EASE FOR THE FIRST GENERATION: For first-generation Turks, the citizenship conditions will be further eased. There will be no language requirement for them and they will be naturalized immediately. Public naturalization ceremonies will also be held and public integration will be ensured.
