Bridge collapsed, many workers died
According to initial reports, 17 workers died as a result of the collapse of the railway bridge under construction in the Aizawl region of the Indian state of Mizoram.
According to ANI News, the state police said in a statement that the incident occurred in the town of Sairang, about 20 kilometers from Aizawl district. Police said the unfinished railway bridge collapsed, killing 17 people, according to initial reports.
Stating that there were around 40 workers on the construction site at the time of the incident, police said search and rescue efforts were continuing for those trapped under the rubble.
Mizoram State Chief Minister Zoramthanga expressed his sadness in his post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, “I offer my deepest condolences to all the families and wish a speedy recovery for the injured. .
