Hundreds of Turks who entered Germany illegally are missing

Some of the Turks who entered Germany illegally and asked for asylum shouting “Asyl-Blue” (Asylum) fled from the First Reception Center (Erstaufnahmeeinrichtung) in Saxony, where they were sent by the German police.

The number of people who fled the center in the first six months of this year is said to be 478 and a third of them are Turks.

It is believed that people who went missing before asylum procedures were completed most likely dispersed across Germany and made their way to their acquaintances or relatives.

The State Ministry of the Interior announced that the monthly pocket money of the fugitives will be cut by approximately 420 euros.

AT LEAST 10 THOUSAND TURKS…

The dispersal of the Turks before the end of their asylum procedures is due to their intention to continue the asylum process there by finding a job or hiring a lawyer with their relatives.

Although the record for smuggling in Germany was broken this month, the number of illegal entries into the country exceeded 40,000 in one month. Turks account for almost a third of this figure.

Meanwhile, in the Czech town of Reitzenhagin, near the German border, a minibus carrying Turks overturned while fleeing from police.

Numerous people, one of them Turkish, were injured. The minibus was claimed to have overturned after refugees who saw the police jumped out of the car and fled.

NO OPERATIONS AT THE BORDER

While about 280,000 illegal immigrants arrived in Germany in 2022, only 11,000 of them could be deported. About 50,000 fugitives cannot be deported because they have disappeared or cannot be traced in any way.

Many of those who stayed were granted asylum, or their asylum period was extended as they filed a claim.

Turkish fugitives reach Germany mainly via Eastern Europe and the Balkan route.

The biggest transit points for Turks to Germany are on the border of Poland and the Czech Republic. The German police have not been able to take proper precautions around here until now.

In case those coming from other EU countries are caught, the process of returning them to the country of origin is not fully implemented at the moment. Therefore, within Germany, “how can we prevent illegal immigration?” the debates are increasing.
