Ministry of Foreign Affairs: We condemn the decision of the American Greek Cypriot Administration of Cyprus

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the one-year extension of the US decision to lift the arms embargo against the Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA).

In a written statement made by the ministry, it was stated: “After the US made the decision to lift the arms embargo against the Greek Cypriot administration in September 2020 and extended the scope of this decision in 2022, this time extending said decision for one year from October 1, 2023”.

The statement included the following:

“We fully support the fair reaction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on this issue. We have pointed out, together with the TRNC, that the various destabilizing measures taken by the US in the region against the Turkish Cypriot side in the recent period have damaged the neutral position of this country that it has maintained on the island of Cyprus for many years. . years and hindered a just, permanent and sustainable solution to the Cyprus problem. We would like to remind you on occasion. We invite the United States to reconsider its policies, which pose risks to stability in the region. Turkey, as the guarantor State, will continue to guarantee the existence, security and peace of the Turkish Cypriots within the framework of its historical and legal responsibilities”. (DHA)
