Allegations about the explosion in Kocaeli created controversy in Russia
The explosion that took place at the port in Kocaeli’s Derince district last week sparked controversy in Russia and became the subject of high-profile allegations.
One person was killed in the explosion that took place last Monday at the Soil Products Office (TMO) silo in the Derince district of Kocaeli. TMO informed that it was evaluated that the explosion could be due to the compression of the dust.
The sound of the explosion was heard from many parts of the Gulf.
ALLEGED ‘ARMS DELIVERY’
The incident gave rise to several complaints on the agenda in Russia. Some pro-Kremlin groups claimed on social media that the explosion may have been caused by weapons shipped to Ukraine.
On some Telegram accounts that are pro-Vladimir Putin’s administration, accusations that the transfer of weapons to the Ukrainian army via Turkey caused the explosion spread quickly. In a Telegram account, he wrote: “Very strange… After all, no explosive fuel or fertilizer was placed on the ship. Or maybe there was not only grain, there were also deadly ‘toys’ for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
The Belgium-based news site Euronews reported that Turkish authorities or the media did not mention the presence of military ammunition in the port. In the news, it was claimed that explosions resulting from chemical reactions in ports were not unusual, and similar explosions were experienced in countries like the US and France in previous years.
RUSSIA HAS ASSAULT ON THE ŞÜKRÜ OKAN SHIP
On the other hand, Russia’s withdrawal from the grain corridor agreement signed with Ukraine under Turkish mediation has increased the pressure on Turkey recently.
Russian intelligence announced traces of explosives were found on a ship traveling from Turkey to Russia under the grain corridor deal last month.
Russian soldiers stopped the dry cargo ship Şükrü Okan, which was heading to the Ukrainian Black Sea port of Izmail, and stormed the ship.
Turkey provoked Russia’s reaction by sending armed drones into Russian-occupied Ukraine.
