Far-right commotion in the Argentine elections

In the primary elections before the general elections to be held in Argentina in October, the far-right populist candidate Javier Milei obtained the most votes.

Milei, who frequently expressed her admiration for former US President Donald Trump, left her mark in the primary elections held yesterday in the country.

92 percent of the votes were counted. According to preliminary results, Milei unexpectedly received 30 percent of the vote. Milei was followed by the main opposition bloc with 28 percent and the currently ruling “Peronist” alliance with 27 percent.

Known for his far-right and populist views, Milei advocates the closure of the Central Bank of Argentina. Milei also claims that climate change is a lie, that the sale of human organs should be legal, and that weapons should be liberalized.

General elections in Argentina will be held on October 22. The results of the primary elections held in the country are, in general, similar to the results of the general elections. (AA)
