Photo scandal in the European Commission: Millions were spent

An official statement came from the European Commission on a parliamentary question from an MP from the far-right German AfD party.
In the statement it was revealed that from 2019 to April of this year, 2.75 million euros were spent on taking photographs and videos of the members of the European Commission. Although this figure was announced to include photographers, video equipment and makeup artists, hairdressing expenses are not included in this amount.
Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn said: “Taking pictures is necessary to inform citizens about our work and to ensure transparency.” No statement was made on how much the 27 commission members individually spent.
