Scandal in Miss Universe contest: contestants forced to undress

A crisis broke out at the Miss Universe pageant that was held last week in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, where the Miss Indonesian Universe will be selected.

Some contestants filed a complaint with the police, explaining that they were forcibly stripped naked and photographed topless without their consent before the competition. While the incident was on the agenda of the international public, accusations of sexual harassment and assault were brought against the organizers. It was claimed that the organizers forced some of the contestants to strip naked and were examined for scars, cellulite or tattoo marks on their bodies.

While it was also claimed that this “inspection” took place in an area where there were more than 20 people, including men, the contestants’ lawyer, Mellisa Anggraeni, said: “There was no need for such control over the participants. in the competition held in Jakarta”. “Five contestants were photographed topless,” Anggraeni said.

“I WAS FORCED TO POSITION MY LEGS”

Speaking to local media, one contestant said: “I feel like my rights have been violated. This situation affected me mentally. I have trouble sleeping,” he said. Police announced that an investigation will be launched into the incident. The organizers of the Miss Universe beauty pageant announced that they are aware of the situation. “We take reports of sexual abuse and harassment very seriously. Our top priority is for our event to be a safe space for women.”

One contestant said: “I was asked to pose inappropriately with my legs apart. “I felt like they were constantly looking at us and harassing us with their eyes.”
