Disaster in France: 11 people die trapped in the fire

According to a statement from the Haut-Rhin Governorate in France, a fire broke out in the morning at the summer residence on the Wintzenheim campus where disabled people stay in the city of Colmar in the region.

Firefighters, who arrived on the scene a short time later, evacuated 17 people and brought the flames under control.

Lieutenant Governor Nathalie Kielwasser announced that the bodies of 11 people trapped in the residence have been found. A person affected by the flames was transferred to the emergency room of the hospital in the region.

MACRON’S EXPLANATION

President Emmanuel Macron, formerly known as Twitter, made a statement on his X social network account, stating that disabled people and their companions stayed at the summer residence in Wintzenheim, where the fire broke out.

Expressing his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the fire and his best wishes to those affected by the fire, Macron thanked the firefighters who evacuated many people from the residence.

For her part, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne expressed her condolences to the relatives of those who lost their lives in a statement in the region where she came from due to the fire.

Thanking the firefighters who evacuated many people in the fire, Borne noted that an investigation has been launched into the incident and details will become clear as a result of the investigations. (AA)
