Imran Khan banned from politics for 5 years
In the statement made by the Election Commission of Pakistan, it was stated that Khan was found guilty of corruption by the court and it was decided to ban the former prime minister from politics for 5 years as per the relevant laws.
The Islamabad High Court found Han guilty of selling $490,000 worth of gifts and misusing his position while prime minister, and sentenced him to 3 years in prison.
Pakistani police arrested Khan at his Lahore home on August 5 on a warrant.

The government of Imran Khan fell, receiving 174 negative votes in the motion of no confidence held on April 10, 2022 in the Pakistani Parliament.
