UN condemns Russia
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric, in a written statement on the matter, said: “The Secretary-General strongly condemns the Russian missile attack on Odessa today, which killed civilians and damaged the UNESCO-protected Transfiguration Cathedral and other buildings in Odessa’s Historic Center, a world heritage site.” he used the phrase.
Noting that the attack was a violation of the 1954 Hague Convention on the Protection of Cultural Property, Dujarric reported that Guterres was concerned that “the war poses a growing threat to Ukrainian culture and heritage.”
Pointing out that 270 cultural sites, 116 of which are religious sites, have been damaged in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, Dujarric said:
“The Secretary General urges Russia to immediately cease its attacks on cultural property protected by widely approved international regulatory means. The Secretary General also continues to call for the immediate cessation of all attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure.”
WHAT HAPPENED?
Ukraine reported that one person was killed and 18 people injured in the Russian attack on Odessa.
Russia, for its part, announced that the facilities for the production of unmanned water vehicles near the city of Odessa and the preparations for terrorist acts with these vehicles were attacked with high-precision missiles. (AA)
