Voting begins in Spain

In Spain, the people vote in early general elections. In the municipal elections held in May, the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party, led by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, came in second with 28.1 percent of the vote.

The right-wing Popular Party came in first with 31.5 percent of the vote, while the far-right Vox came in third with 7.2 percent. Sánchez, who could not win the elections, decided on early elections.

COALITION WITH VOX

Spanish media have announced that today’s elections are likely to go in favor of the right-wing Popular Party. It was claimed that the Popular Party was likely to form a coalition with the far-right Vox to form the government.

In the event that the elections result in favor of the Popular Party and a coalition with Vox is formed, Spain will be the other country in Europe where right-wing parties come to power after Finland, Sweden and Italy.
