Tension is high on the Korean Peninsula: Missiles were launched again
South Korea reported that North Korea launched several cruise missiles into the Yellow Sea, located between mainland China and the Korean peninsula.
According to the Yonhap report, the South Korean General Staff said in a statement that the launch into the Yellow Sea took place at 04:00 local time. In the statement, noting that possible North Korean launch attempts were closely monitored, it was claimed that surveillance by the South Korean military was supported in cooperation with the United States.
North Korea conducted a short-range ballistic missile test in the East Sea (Sea of Japan) on July 18.
After 42 years, the US sent the Ohio-class nuclear submarine USS Kentucky to South Korean waters, raising tensions in the region. USS Kentucky anchored in Busan port on July 18 and left South Korean waters on July 21 after a 3-day visit. (AA)
