The Russian Defense Ministry announced today that Russian warships are conducting an exercise in the Black Sea. In the statement, it was claimed that the Russian navy conducted exercises to hit “floating targets” and missiles were used.
Two days ago, Russia announced that ships heading to Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea coast could be military targets.
The exercise caused concern in the region.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that the navy is also rehearsing the closure of areas that temporarily disable sea borders and a “capture a criminal ship” exercise.
After Russia’s withdrawal from the grain corridor agreement, the Ukrainian administration announced that it would continue to export grain by creating a new route. But Russia had signaled they could attack by declaring all ships entering Ukraine’s Black Sea ports a threat. Russia stressed that these ships are likely to carry military cargo.
In the statement issued by the Russian military, it was announced that video imaging systems and unmanned aerial vehicles successfully fulfilled their duties in the exercise.
