Prigojin announced: Wagner will continue its operations in Africa

Yevgeniy Prigojin, the founder of the Russian private security company Wagner, said they will continue to fight in the African countries where they already are.

Prigojin made statements about Wagner’s future on the continent by connecting to the broadcast of the Afrique Media TV channel that broadcasts in Cameroon. Using the phrase “There will be no reduction in our programs in Africa”, Prigojin stated that they will continue their activities in all the countries where they are currently located.

Prigojin also said that they are ready for service if the necessary conditions in the fight against terrorism are met.

Prigojin, the founder of the Russian private security company Wagner, launched an armed rebellion against the Russian administration in June with the fighters accompanying him. The uprising ended with the intervention of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. Lukashenko, who suggested that Wagner settle in the country after Prigojin went to Belarus, noted that the Belarusian army could benefit from the experience of Wagner’s fighters.

Prigojin accepted this offer and stated that the mercenaries would stay in Belarus for a while. After the revolt, there were also doubts about Wagner’s future in Africa, with it being claimed that Wagner had withdrawn from the Central African Republic (OAC), where approximately 2,000 of his elements were located.

These accusations were denied by OAC officials. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also announced on June 26 that Wagner would stay in Africa. (AA)
