The fisherman, who struggled to survive in the ocean for 2 months, came ashore
Weeks after he set out with his dog Bella in the Pacific Ocean to go from Mexico to French Polynesia in April with his boat, Shaddock was swept away for about 2 months due to damage to his boat from a storm in May, and was taken to Manzanillo, in the Mexican state of Colima, in the boat from which he was rescued.
After coming ashore, Shaddock told reporters that he and his dog were doing great.
Expressing his gratitude to the captain and the fishing company that saved his life, Shaddock said: “I’m alive and I really didn’t think I would make it.”
SURVIVED ON RAW FISH AND RAINWATER
Shaddock, who managed to survive on raw fish and rainwater, said he last saw land in early May.
In a statement from the fishing company, it was reported that the vessel was located some 2,000 kilometers away, and Shaddock and his dog, who were deprived of food and shelter, received medical assistance, as well as food and water, from the ship’s crew.
His doctor declared yesterday that Shaddock is in good health. (AA)
