Social media users warned the woman that the strange markings could be a code used by thieves who wanted to steal a dog.
One person said: “I’ve heard of people doing this and stealing dogs for illegal fights. Erase the tracks and keep the dogs inside.” he warned.
It is unknown if the woman has a dog, but other users have also said that the signs can symbolize something threatening.
People advised the woman to tell the police about the signs and install security cameras.

This is not the first time something like this has happened. An Adelaide homeowner also saw black signs in his neighborhood and decided they were “a secret code used by thieves.”
A concerned resident noticed lines that looked like marker marks, along with the letters “NT” and “S” on some properties.
The person who asked on Reddit was surprised with the response he got. Some Reddit users said that these are likely codes used by crooks.
One user said: “He wants to enter your property. NT (non-threatening) = no threat, S (security) = safe,” she wrote, adding: “Signs usually indicate how many days your home has been monitored and how many times you have used an input.”
Since then, South Australian Police have urged anyone who finds signs like those described by the two concerned residents to report it.
