The fires were terrifying! 70 million people will be affected
New York Governor Kathy Hochul issued a written statement on air quality in the state.
Noting that air quality in the northern parts of the province, near Canada, has started to drop to an “unhealthy” level, Hochul said that’s why they keep hundreds of thousands of N95-type masks ready for use in the public and public officials.
‘GET READY’ INSTRUCTIONS
Hochul noted that if the air quality in New York City drops to a dangerous level, they will warn the public with phone messages, stressing that hospitals have been instructed to be prepared for an increase in respiratory illnesses.
“New Yorkers should once again be prepared for smoke from the wildfires in Canada to impact our state’s air quality this week.” warning, Hochul called on New Yorkers to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their loved ones.
70 MILLION PEOPLE EXPECTED TO BE NEGATIVELY AFFECTED
Weather experts say some 12 provinces, mostly in the north of the country, from Montana to Vermont, will be affected by smoke from Canada.
Especially Chicago, Detroit, New York, St. Air quality and visibility are estimated to decline in this region, where approximately 70 million people live, due to smoke that is expected to affect large cities like Louis and Cleveland.
The US Weather Forecast Center reported that smog is expected to linger on the East Coast through mid-week, but it won’t be as “dangerous” as it was when it first hit the US in early June. .
According to the Canadian Interagency Wildfires Center website, there are more than 880 active fires across the country, of which about 580 are “out of control.”
Forest fires are said to release significant pollutants into the atmosphere, and the smoke that comes out contains a fine particulate matter called PM2.5, which causes health problems such as asthma and bronchitis. (AA)
