Bridge to Crimea closed due to “emergency”

A Russian-built bridge to Crimea was closed to traffic on Monday morning due to an “emergency”. The Russian governor Sergei Aksyonov reported it on Telegram, who limited himself to saying that it was an emergency at the 145th pillar under the bridge, which connects Crimea with the Russian region of Krasnodar.

According to the Russian news site RBC, explosions were heard on the bridge. A Telegram channel associated with the Wagner Group, according to the Reuters news agency, reports that two attacks occurred on the bridge in the night between Sunday and Monday.

The United Nations is hoping for an extension of the grain deal

The wheat deal agreed between Ukraine and Russia with the mediation of the United Nations and Turkey expires on Monday. The UN hopes the deal can be extended again to prevent a food crisis. Russia doesn’t just want to agree to this.

Moscow has been dissatisfied with the agreements for months, which would be unprofitable for Russian companies. The wheat deal was concluded in July last year and has since been extended three times. Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly threatened to withdraw.
