Now that the first Cybertruck has rolled off the production line, that doesn’t automatically mean that production will immediately be ramped up. On the contrary. During the annual meeting of shareholders, Musk tempered expectations, noting that the Cybertruck’s unconventional design still poses challenges. Among other things, the construction of the body – which is made entirely of stainless steel – is a significant cost item and is also difficult to machine.

“We will satisfy the demand no matter what,” Musk said. ‘But it’s going to be difficult to keep everything affordable, because it’s a new car that has to be made through a new build process. So in the big picture – and compared to other Teslas – the Cybertruck won’t be produced much. But he remains very cool.’
