Miraculous Salvation: Doctors Reattach Young Boy’s Severed Neck
Suleiman Hasan, a 12-year-old Palestinian who was seriously injured in a car accident in the West Bank last month, and whose skull was amputated from his spine, has made a miraculous story of survival as a result of his surgery.
The boy, who was seriously injured after being hit by a car while riding a bicycle last month, was rushed by helicopter to a Jerusalem hospital. Having suffered a rare medical event, Hasan, whose head region was severed from the inside, was immediately taken to surgery.
Doctors reported that Hasan’s head was almost completely severed from his neck and he had to undergo a difficult operation that lasted hours. Israeli doctors Ohad Einav and Ziv Asa, who performed the surgery, stated that the boy’s condition was very bad when he arrived at the hospital, but the operation was successful.
The child’s skull and spine were found to be attached to each other with screws and plates.
THEY USUALLY DIE IMMEDIATELY
Noting that the boy’s head, which had been severed from the inside, was repositioned, doctors announced the results a month later. Dr. Ohad Einav, speaking to the Israeli press, noted that most patients died immediately in such events, saying: “We fought for the child’s survival.” Einav stated that surgery is possible if the vessels in the head area are not damaged.
The surgery, which also drew attention in the medical world, was described as an “incredible success” by many doctors.
It was announced that he would continue the rehabilitation treatment of Süleyman, who did not have any neurological problems after the surgery and could walk on his own. The boy’s father also said that he was grateful to the Israeli doctors.
