28 attacks in the US in six months: Hundreds of people lost their lives
According to data from the study conducted by the Associated Press (AP) and USA Today in partnership with Northeastern University, there were 28 shootings, all but one, with firearms, from January 1 to June 30 in the United States.
Although 140 people lost their lives in the attacks during that period, this period was the period with the most attacks in the first six months since 2006.
Experts think that the main reason for the increase in attacks in the US is the increase in weaponry in the country.
US President Joe Biden called for gun regulation reforms in a statement following the March 27 shooting at an elementary school in Tennessee that killed 6 people, including 3 children.
The reform includes a ban on assault weapons, such as semi-automatic rifles, and extensive criminal record checks on gun sales.
A total of 15 people lost their lives in the armed attacks that occurred in different states during the week of celebration of July 4, the country’s Independence Day. (AA)
