British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace has suggested that Ukraine could have put a little more emphasis on thanking all Western aid. The Guardian reports it at the end of a press conference with the minister in Vilnius. The minister echoed his comments when asked yesterday to comment on President Zelensky’s complaints that the country had not been given a timetable or set conditions for joining NATO.
Ben Wallace said Ukrainians were in such a hurry to get all the help they could get that they didn’t always say they were grateful for the help they received. “Whether we like it or not, people want to see some gratitude,” the minister said during a briefing.
“We are not Amazon”
According to Wallace, he traveled to Ukraine last year to get a gun shopping list there. “You know, we’re not Amazon,” he said. “I told him last year when I drove eleven hours to get a list.” But the minister also understood that Zelensky was speaking on stage about him and that, despite Zelensky’s complaints yesterday, the final agreement at the summit was good for Ukraine.
