Threatening message from North Korea: There is no guarantee
According to North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the North Korean Defense Ministry spokesman made a written statement regarding US air activities on the Korean peninsula.
“There is no guarantee that a shocking accident such as the downing of a US strategic reconnaissance aircraft in the East Sea (Sea of Japan) will not occur,” the statement used said.
In the statement, it was emphasized that the US would be responsible for the military situation in the region becoming “irreparable”, and it was claimed that the US carried out espionage activities against North Korean sovereignty.
Recalling the “fate” of the US plane shot down by North Korea in 1969, 1994 and 2003, the statement said: “Everything has a limit.” It was claimed that the United States “will pay the price for its provocative espionage activities in the air.”
North Korea says US nuclear-powered submarines pose a threat
On the other hand, North Korea condemned the US plan to send nuclear-powered submarines to South Korea, saying the plan could spark a nuclear conflict in the region.
In his statement, the spokesman said that submarines with nuclear warheads entering the region for the first time since 1981 may cause regional conflicts and military tensions.
Stressing that nuclear submarines are “open nuclear blackmail” against North Korea, the spokesman condemned the plan, noting that “North Korea must clearly demonstrate how it will respond to prevent irresponsible actions by the United States.” (AA)
