Israeli government: We will try to avoid the collapse of the Palestinian Authority

According to the statement made by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Press Office, the National Security Committee accepted the proposal submitted by Prime Minister Netanyahu to the Committee.

According to the resolution in question, “Israel will work to prevent the collapse of the Palestinian Authority unless there is a change in national assessments.” On the other hand, in the motion, it was stated that Israel had some expectations from the Palestinian Authority in response to this effort.

SUGGESTION UNANIMOUSLY ACCEPTED

Consequently, the Israeli government seeks payments from the Palestinian Authority to “act against Israel in the international political and legal arena, anti-Israel agitation in the media and the education system, payments to the families of Palestinian insurgents killed or arrested for carrying out attacks against Israelis and (in the occupied West Bank) and ‘illegal’ construction will stop in Area C (which is completely under Israeli control).

It was claimed that these proposals presented by Prime Minister Netanyahu to the cabinet were unanimously accepted. It was also noted that the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister will present the so-called measures to the cabinet “to stabilize the civil situation in the Palestinian regions.”

The Palestinian Authority has not yet ruled on the Israeli government’s decision.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Violence and attacks against Palestinians by the Israeli army and by Israelis living in illegal Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank have intensified of late.

Finally, the Israeli army killed 12 Palestinians, including 4 children, in air and ground strikes during the 48-hour siege of the Jenin refugee camp last week.

There was a backlash against the Palestinian Authority, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, by armed resistance groups in the region and the Palestinian people, due to its ineffectiveness in the face of Israeli attacks. It was assessed that continued attacks and violations by Israel could lead to the Palestinian Authority’s loss of control in the region and its collapse. (AA)
