Russia’s reaction to the US: You said it was a war crime
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mariya Zakharova recalled the White House’s earlier statement that the use of this bomb was a “war crime” despite US support for cluster bombs of Ukraine.
Zaharova, in a statement on her social media account, claimed that former White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki used the words “Using cluster bombs is a war crime” on February 28, 2022.
Recalling that a year and a half later, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced his intention to send cluster bombs to Ukraine at the White House press conference, Zaharova said they were waiting for the declaration. White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre.
US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stated that they would not leave Ukraine defenseless and announced that they would support cluster munitions in the country. Noting that they are aware of the risk of cluster munitions harming civilians, Sullivan stated that delivering cluster munitions to Ukraine was not an “easy decision”.
Sullivan claimed that US President Joe Biden decided to move forward on the advice of the national security team and after consulting with allies and members of Congress. (AA)
