Russia’s eye on the Erdogan-Zelenskiy summit
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy will pay a working visit to Turkey today and meet with President Erdogan.
The Kremlin said in a statement that Russia would closely monitor the meeting. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that they will closely follow the results of the Erdogan-Zelenskiy meeting.
Noting that they attach great importance to Turkey’s mediation role, Peskov said Russian leader Putin could also meet Erdogan, but the date has not been set.
According to Turkish sources who spoke to Reuters, the extension of the Black Sea grain corridor deal and a possible prisoner swap between Moscow and Kiev will be on the agenda during Zelenskiy’s visit to Istanbul.
Russia has been making statements against the extension of the grain corridor agreement, which was signed with the mediation of Turkey and the UN.
