Explosion in kyiv, Ukraine
In the statement made by the Kiev City Military Administration, it was stated that the explosion occurred at 17:20 local time at the Shevchensky district court in the capital.
According to preliminary information, the defendant, who was brought to the court in a convoy, detonated an unknown explosive substance in the court bathroom, and emergency teams were dispatched to the scene.
UNKNOWN IF KILLED AND WOUNDED
Ukraine’s Interior Minister Igor Klimenko said in a statement on his social media account that police teams, special forces and explosives experts began working at the site.
Noting that efforts are underway to clarify the details of the explosion, Klimenko urged city residents to remain calm and stay away from the scene.
It is not yet known if anyone was killed or injured in the blast.
Local news sources reported that the name of the defendant, who was brought to the court for trial and detonated a grenade there, was Igor Gumenyuk.
It emerged that Gumenyuk was one of the suspects in the case of the grenade attack on the Ukrainian Parliament in 2015. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB)
