Ukraine: more than 37 square kilometers released in a week
Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar reported that the liberated area in the east increased by 9 square kilometers and by 28.4 square kilometers in the south in the past week.
Malyar, in his statement on his social media account, assessed the developments of the past week on the eastern and southern fronts. Stating that the Ukrainian army is continuing both offensive and defensive actions in the east, Malyar said: “We are advancing in the direction of Bahmut. The enemy continues to attack in the directions of Port, Avdiyivka and Marinka.
Malyar noted that the Russians tried to drive the Ukrainian troops out of their positions in these directions, but were rewarded. Noting that fierce clashes continue in these directions, Malyar said: “As a result of the improvement of the operational situation and the flattening of the front line in the last week, the liberated area has increased by 9 square kilometers.”
Noting that Russian forces have doubled their attacks in the east in the past week, Malyar said that 6,457 attacks were recorded in the previous week, up from 11,753 last week. Emphasizing that the Ukrainian defense forces in the south continue their offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, Malyar noted that the liberated areas on the southern front increased by 28.4 square kilometers in the past week.
