Ukraine calls for EU sanctions

Zelenskiy met with the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, who arrived in kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, to hold talks.

After the meeting, the parties held a joint press conference.

“TECHNICALLY READY”

In his speech here, Zelenskiy claimed that Russia was technically ready to trigger local explosions that could lead to a radiation leak at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

Noting that they discussed in detail with their partners the issue that the power plant should pass under Ukrainian control, Zelenskiy stressed that it is important that the International Atomic Energy Agency intervenes before control is transferred to Ukraine.

“EU HAS NOW STARTED”

Noting that they discussed the issue of sanctions against Russia in their meeting with Prime Minister Sanchez, Zelenskiy said: “The EU should start working on the 12th package of sanctions against Russia now.” saying.

Zelenskiy said they do not understand why the sanctions against the Russian nuclear power company Rosatom are still not applied: “The directors and representatives of this company continue to occupy the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.” he said.

Sánchez, for his part, pointed out that today is the first day of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU and said: “Therefore, in the coming months we will advance on issues that are important for the future of the EU. Of course, Ukraine will be at the center of all our discussions.” saying.

Stating that they “followed the latest events in Russia closely, but these did not change the situation in Ukraine,” Sanchez said that civilians in Ukraine continue to survive under conditions of continuous airstrikes and destruction of infrastructure.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

Sánchez indicated that Spain will soon deliver equipment, especially 4 Leopard tanks, and a portable field hospital to Ukraine.

Stating that Spain will allocate 55 million euros to help Ukraine’s reconstruction, Sánchez said: “51 million euros will be provided through the World Bank and will be used to support small and medium-sized businesses. The remaining 4 million euros will be used to install off-grid renewable energy systems in schools in Ukraine through the United Nations Development Program. he used his statements. (AA)
