Impressive survey on remote work: giant companies began to reduce their offices

Remote working, which has become widespread around the world in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic and is still ongoing in many companies, has also affected office spaces.

A Knight Frank survey of 350 companies found that half of large companies plan to reduce their office space.

According to Business Insider news, The largest companies, defined as those with more than 50,000 employees, expect to reduce 10-20% of their office space by 2026.

The report is based on examples from around 350 companies around the world that employ a total of 10 million people.

Most of these companies are turning to hybrid work, but 31% take an “office first” approach.

OFFERED FLEXIBILITY TO STAFF

Fortune recently reported that Salesforce is trying to lure its employees back into the office with a $10 charitable donation every day they come in, and is set to give a total of $2.5 million. The company has more than 79,000 employees.

Speaking about the report, Knight Frank’s global head of user research, Dr. “Now that we truly are in a post-pandemic world, corporate decision makers are making clear decisions about future corporate real estate strategies based on a broader set of trade issues than just the pandemic,” Lee Elliott said.

Dr. “Companies want to work more in their offices, but still offer some flexibility to staff,” Elliott said. He added that “there is a strong drive towards a higher quality space that is amenity-rich, sustainably validated and better aligned with prevailing work styles.”

OFFICE AREAS ARE IN SHORTAGE

However, while the largest companies are reducing their office space, it was also noted that 55% of all companies surveyed expect to “drastically increase” their office space in the next three years. This was explained by companies with up to 10,000 employees, which represent 211 of the 347 companies surveyed.

Dr. “There are cases where companies are shrinking space… but there are also a lot of midsize companies that are really expanding their global presence,” Elliott told CNN. saying.
