Provocation that will cause a crisis in Sweden: They burned it again
In Stockholm, the Swedish capital, an Iraqi named Salwan Momika burned the Koran under police protection in front of the Stockholm Mosque.
Momika, who appeared in front of the Stockholm Mosque on Medbargareplatsen under extensive police protection, threw the Quran on the ground, stepped on it, uttered insulting words against Islam and set it on fire despite the reaction of the people around her.
The police called the entire Stockholm police in front of the mosque to prevent an incident at the provocation that took place on the first day of Eid al-Adha.
Mahmut Khalfi, president of the Stockholm Association of Mosques, who reacted to the permission of the provocation, said the provocation deeply upset Muslims. “Our Muslim members call us saying they are very hurt, worried and don’t feel safe because of the insults to their holy values,” Khalfi said.
THE COURT HAS LIMITED THE BAN
In February in Sweden, Salwan Momika, born in Iraq, wanted to burn the Koran in front of the Iraqi Embassy in Stockholm, and Chris Makoundout, of African origin, in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm; The police did not allow these provocations for security reasons. Momika and Makoundout took the police decision to court.
The Swedish Administrative Court, on the other hand, annulled the police decision on April 4, arguing that “concerns about security risks” were not enough to limit the right to demonstrate. The Stockholm police then took the decision to the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court approved this decision of the Administrative Court and lifted the police’s “Ban on burning Quran” on June 12.
