Reactions to Macron’s conversation with the mother whose son cannot find a job

President Emmanuel Macron, who is the target of reactions with the law to increase the retirement age from 62 to 64 years in France, once again drew the arrows of criticism with his action yesterday.

According to the news collected by Euronews Turkish, Macron’s response to the mother, who complained that her 33-year-old son could not find a job during his visit to Marseille, received reactions from public opinion and unions.

When the woman approached him as he was wandering the streets of the city complaining that his son could not find a job, Macron replied: “I promise you, if we take a walk with you tonight through the old port, I’m sure.” We’ll see 10 job offers.”

Although the images containing these statements by Macron suddenly went viral on social media, citizens who were dissatisfied with the economic situation wrote harsh criticism under these images.

‘Ignore the severity of the problem’

Marylise León, the new general secretary of the CFDT, one of the country’s largest union confederations, reacted to Macron’s comment, calling it “an easy and simple explanation that ignores the seriousness of the problem.”

Speaking to the BFM television channel, Leon sarcastically expressed the following views:

“I am not sure that the main task of the Élysée Palace is to find work for everyone. What message is the president sending to people who work in cafes and restaurants to knock on the door and come to work? Such an approach means denying the hardships of working conditions. When you become president, it’s easy to take someone with you and say go to an employer and get a job.”
