Bad weather affects more than 2,000 flights in the US

According to FlightAware, which shares air travel statistics, severe storms that caused property damage in the population-dense Northeast region caused more than 2,000 flights to be delayed or cancelled.

It was reported that 1,241 domestic and international flights were delayed and 828 flights were canceled due to adverse weather conditions.

At New Jersey’s Newark Liberty airport, waiting rooms were packed with passengers whose flights were canceled or delayed, while families unable to find an empty seat made beds on the floor with their children and slept.

Similar situations were reported at LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy airport in New York and Logan airport in Boston.

WHAT HAPPENED?

More than 8,000 flights were canceled or delayed yesterday in the same region of the country due to weather conditions and problems with air control personnel.

More than 300 severe storms were reported, with temperatures reaching dangerous levels in the eastern United States, from New Hampshire to South Carolina. (AA)
