The death that revived France

Politicians reacted to the death of the 17-year-old driver in France as a result of the fire opened by the police.

Sabrina Sebaihi, a member of the Los Verdes (EELV) party, expressed her condolences to the driver’s family, stating that the 17-year-old driver died as a result of a point-blank shooting opened by police in the city of Nanterre this morning.

Sebaihi stressed that the police must use their weapons in certain situations that pose a danger to their lives.

Stating that the footage of the incident in Nanterre was “appalling”, Sebaihi argued that the police were not in physical danger while the deceased driver’s vehicle was in motion.

Recalling that similar situations had occurred before in the cities of Paris and Nice, Sebaihi asked Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin: “Why in our republic can disobeying the warning to ‘stop’ be punished with a bullet to the chest or head? ‘?”. he posed the question.

Darmanin stated that the images of the incident in question were “shocking” and described the death of the teenager after the police control as “a drama”.

Emphasizing that it is unacceptable for the police to shoot at point-blank range, Darmanin noted that the mourning of the driver’s family must be respected.

Darmanin pointed out that the policemen who opened fire had a presumption of innocence.

Manon Aubry, the French member of the European Parliament (EP), shared on Twitter the image of the moment when the French police opened fire on the young driver. Aubry claimed these images were “terrible” and stressed that failure to comply with the police “stop” warning should not be punishable by death.

Former French presidential candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon said on Twitter that there is no death penalty in France and that no police officer has the right to kill except in self-defense.

In French press reports, it was claimed that the police officer, suspected of opening fire on the young man named Nael M., was arrested for “deliberate murder”.

Although there were tense moments in the city of Nanterre between the young people and the police who reacted to the death of the driver, so far 7 people have been arrested.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The police opened fire on a vehicle in the city of Nanterre, in which 3 people were traveling and did not comply with the “stop” warning. The 17-year-old driver died as a result of the fire.

A child in the vehicle was taken into custody, while the other child fled the scene.

An investigation into the incident had been launched.

In the images reflected on social networks, it can be seen that the policemen who opened fire were not in front of the vehicle, but at the height of the left front seat.

In the images, it is understood that the vehicle hit the pole after the police fired the gun aimed at the driver. AA
