Saudi Arabia: 1.8 million pilgrims from 150 countries
Saudi Arabia’s Hajj Minister and Umrah Tevfik er-Rabia held a press conference on the issue. Noting that the number of pilgrims reached 1,845,000 people from 150 countries this year, Rabia said that 184,130 people out of the total number of pilgrims are citizens of Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Arabian Institute of Statistics has also announced the details of this year’s pilgrims. According to the written statement, 184 thousand 130 people from the country became pilgrims, 346 thousand 214 people from Arab countries, 1 million 56 thousand 317 people from Asian countries, 221 thousand 863 people from Africa, 36 thousand 521 people from Europe, America, Australia and other countries performed their worship.
1,593,271 of the pilgrims arrived in Saudi Arabia from abroad by air, 60,813 by land and 6,831 by sea.
Among the total number of domestic and foreign pilgrims, the number of male pilgrims reached 969,694, and the number of female pilgrims reached 875,351.
HE SAID “THE NUMBER OF HACIS WILL GO BACK TO WHAT IT WAS BEFORE THE EPIDEMIC”
Hajj and Umrah minister Rabia said on January 9 that the number of pilgrims would return to what it was before the Covid-19 outbreak. Last year, the number of pilgrims remained below the goal of 899,353, of which 779,919 came from abroad.
In the 2021 pilgrimage season, only 60,000 people from Saudi Arabia were able to participate under strict health checks due to the outbreak of the epidemic.
In Saudi Arabia, where approximately 2.5 million pilgrims from all over the world arrived in 2019, the number of pilgrims was limited to approximately 10,000 in 2020. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB)
