Charles Michel, President of the Council of the European Union (EU), stated that he closely followed the events that began with the Wagner Group’s revolt against the Russian administration, and stated that it was an internal Russian matter.
Michel, in a statement on his Twitter account, stated that the EU is closely following the development of the situation in Russia. Stating that he is in contact with European leaders and G7 partners, Michel said: “This is clearly an internal Russian matter.”
“Our support for Ukraine and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is unwavering,” Michel said.
Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigojin accused the Russian military of attacking Wagner and threatened retaliation. Faced with this situation, the Federal Security Service (FSB) opened a criminal case on the charge of “armed riots”.
The Ministry of Defense called on all Wagner fighters to “be vigilant” and contact law enforcement, in a statement this morning. (AA)
