The CEOs of Google and Microsoft are both of Indian descent. This fits well with the image Modi wants to project from his country, says Dupuy. ‘There’s a growing middle class here, a lot of people who want to work in the tech industry. But there is also a growing group of consumers who could buy these products. All those top executives are quite open to that.’
