2 million TL for those who settle in paradise islands

Ireland is taking a remarkable step in reviving life on more than 20 islands off its west coast.

According to Business Insider news, the country will pay 92 thousand dollars (2 million 176 thousand TL) to people who move to the islands famous for their magnificent views. These people need to buy and renovate abandoned houses on the islands and settle here.

Among the islands in question is the island of Inis Mór, which was also the setting for the film “The Banshees of Inisherin”, which caused a great impact in the cinema. On the other hand, the money will be used solely for the renovation of the house.

The islands off the Atlantic coast, which are covered by Ireland’s ‘Our Living Islands’ programme, have no access bridge to the mainland and can sometimes be difficult to reach due to high waves. The government stressed that the goal of the program, which will start on July 1, is to bring sustainable and vibrant life to the islands in the coming years and increase the population.

The government will now identify vacant homes on the islands and put them up for sale. It is claimed that many people escaping from big cities may prefer to live on the islands thanks to remote work.
