Ukrainian MP “The biggest challenge for road reconstruction”
The main challenge for the reconstruction of Ukraine is the rehabilitation and construction of new roads. So says Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenko to Sky News’ Sophy Ridge.
About 15,000 miles of new roads would have to be built “to ensure communities remain able to function normally.”
Ukrainians destroy Russian ammunition depot
According to Odessa military administration spokesman Serhiy Bratchuk, Ukrainian troops today have a “major ammunition depot” south of Kherson near the port city of Henichesk, which is held by the Russians.
“Our troops struck quite a blow this morning,” Bratchuk said. “The Russians had a relatively large depot in the village of Rykove, but it has now been destroyed.”
Fighting continues around Zaporizhia
According to the British Ministry of Defence, heavy fighting continues in and around Zaporizhia Oblast, Donetsk and Bachmut. The ministry reports this in its daily intelligence update.
He also claims that great losses are being suffered on both sides; the Russians would see the biggest loss of troops since the peak of fighting for Bachmut in March.
Flood death toll rises after dam burst in Ukraine
Kiev reports that on the Ukrainian-controlled side of the Dnipro River, the death toll from floods following the destruction of the Kakhovka dam has risen to 16. There are still 31 people missing.
At least 29 people were killed in areas under Russian control as a result of the dam burst, the Russian-installed administration in Kherson said. The southern shore is in Russian hands. The previous death toll reported on this side was 17.
