The American soldiers had left as if they had fled… A decision of the Taliban for that day
In Afghanistan, the Taliban administration declared the day the last foreign soldier left the country a national holiday.
In the statement issued by the administration office of the Taliban interim government, the decisions made by the Council of Ministers were disclosed. Consequently, with the withdrawal of the last foreign soldier, it was announced that August 31, the day the occupation of Afghanistan ended, would be declared a national holiday throughout the country.
With the unfinished negotiations between the Afghan government and the Taliban, the conflicts between the parties escalated in the summer of 2021, and the Taliban began to seize control of cities in Afghanistan one by one.
In parallel, the foreign powers in Afghanistan within NATO had accelerated the withdrawal of their troops. Thus, the US invasion of Afghanistan, which began on October 7, 2001, ended with the withdrawal of the last US soldier on August 31, 2021. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB)
