Spent 28 years in prison, eventually found not guilty

Connecticut State Supreme Court Justice Jon Alander decided to drop the case, stating that police had improperly pursued the investigation and that Adam Carmon was wrongfully convicted of his missteps.

Carmon said: “I feel like I have finally proven my innocence. What happened today is the verdict of the acquaintances. “I had nothing to do with the murder of a child in 1994,” he said.

Expressing that his name was tarnished in this process, Carmon, 51, said he had to live with it for the rest of his life.

Shirley Troutman, the mother of baby Danielle, who died in the incident, said she was saddened the case was dropped and still believes Carmon is the killer.

Carmon’s attorney, Doug Lieb, said in a statement that his client’s constitutional rights were violated due to a crime he did not commit, and that they would file suit against the state for damages.

On November 30, 2022, Connecticut State Supreme Court Justice Alander vacated Carmon’s conviction, emphasizing that prosecutors were withholding evidence from police.
Following the verdict, Carmon was released in December 2022. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB)
